The material of the connector is mainly composed of three parts:
Contact material for terminals
Terminal plating material
Insulation material of the housing
Contact material for terminals:
Copper (Cu) Good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and good processability;
Brass (Cu Zn) Copper-zinc alloy,Good elastic material and welding material, high cost performance;
Phosphor Bronze (Cu Sn) Copper and tin alloys, good elastic materials;
Steel (Fe) Application temperature can reach 250 ℃, good elasticity and wear resistance;
Nickel (Ni) Application temperature can reach 650 ℃, corrosion resistance, high strength and good conductivity.
Connector Plating Material:
Tin (Sn)
Tin is relatively soft, has strong corrosion resistance, strong solderability, and is inexpensive. Coating thickness is generally 2 ~ 4μm;
Gold(Ag)
Gold is currently the best quality electroplating material for connector contacts. It has very good corrosion resistance, does not dissolve in strong acids, and has high electrical conductivity. The price is relatively high, and it is generally used for local gold plating; gold plating is usually plated on the nickel plating layer, and the thickness is generally 0.4 to 3.5 μm.
Nickel(Ni)
It is generally used for gold plating and steel contact plating (copper plating).
Copper(Cu)
Used for basic plating to improve solderability.
Connector insulation material
Thermoplastics: polyamide, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, ABS, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyphenylene ether, polyester, PPS;
Thermosetting plastics: phenolic resin, urea formaldehyde, DAP, epoxy resin
Polyamide (PA)
Good toughness, wear resistance, odorless, good processing performance, heat resistance temperature can reach 105 ℃
Polycarbonate(PC)
It has good abrasion resistance, good moldability, insulation performance, dimensional stability, and low water absorption. It is often used in multi-position connectors, and the heat-resistant temperature can reach 130 ° C.
